SUMMARY:Safer Drug Consumption Facility Drop-In
DESCRIPTION:The following information has been taken from a Glasgow City HSCP poster. They can be contacted via glasgowcity.hscp.scot/sdcf \nYou may be aware of the Glasgow City plans to implement Scotland’s first Safer Drug Consumption Facility (SDCF). SDCFs are supervised healthcare settings where people can inject drugs\, obtained elsewhere in the presence of trained health and social care staff in clean\, hygienic environments. The service aims to reduce the negative impact that injecting outdoors has on local residents\, communities and businesses and reduce the harms associated with injecting drugs and support people to access appropriate help. If you have any questions or concerns\, we welcome you to meet with project leads at these informal drop ins. We hope this will be an opportunity for community members to hear about the plans and have questions answered one to one.

SUMMARY:Duke Street Spring Clean
DESCRIPTION:From the organiser:\nWe are thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with Lidl for a week of action across Glasgow to wrap up #SpringCleanScotland 2024. \nWe will be hosting a litter pick event around the area surrounding the Lidl store on\nGlasgow’s Duke Street on Wednesday 24 April between 10am and 12pm. \nWe will provide all equipment but please come dressed for the weather – a waterproof jacket and wellies or walking boots are advisable. Please also consider bringing water with you\, however Lidl will be providing refreshments for everyone taking part. \n#SpringCleanScotland is our annual campaign to address the country’s litter emergency and do our part to clean up Scotland. By taking small actions such as organising or participating in a litter pick\, you can make a difference to one of the country’s biggest environmental charities. \nThe suitable recyclable litter collected\, will be placed in Lidl’s new reverse vending machines\, with 5p per item being donated to charity. \nLidl has become the first supermarket to roll out its own bottle return scheme trial. \nLaunched in February\, shoppers in Glasgow can enjoy unlimited cash rewards in return for empty PET plastic and aluminium drinks containers via in-store reverse vending machines. \nRolling out across all 21 of its Glasgow stores\, shoppers will (outwith the litter pick) receive a 5p reward for each eligible item that they return. This can either be redeemed against their shopping or donated to Lidl’s long-standing charity partner\, The STV Children’s appeal\, which it has been supporting since 2011. \nIncentivising shoppers to play a part in reducing plastic pollution\, there is no cap on the number of items that can be returned\, and Lidl will accept qualifying bottles and cans purchased from any retailer\, as long as they are clean and uncrushed.
