John Grady has responded to our email to him about the future of Barrolwand Park…
“Since my last email to you, I have been reviewing the information that you have provided with me relating to Barrowland Park and the relevant documents produced by Glasgow City Council about the park.
My understanding, as you have also noted, is that the Barrowland Park site is considered vacant by Glasgow City Council and has been earmarked for development.
It is important that local residents, as well as the range of other stakeholders in the Barrowland Park are provided with full communication about any proposed development plans that Glasgow City Council receive.
Following careful consideration, I propose that I will write to Glasgow City Council seeking an update on plans for development of the Barrowland Park, highlighting the requirement that local residents and all relevant stakeholders be provided with adequate communication about plans that Glasgow City Council have for the open space. I will also emphasise that it is important that any decisions about the space are made on a reasonable basis consistent with planning law.
I note that whilst the park was intended to be a temporary space, there has been limited upkeep of the Album Pathway. I propose that I will also ask Glasgow City Council to outline the steps that it will take to provide upkeep to the Album Pathway and the park more generally.
Thank you again for writing to me about your community group and the Barrowland Park.’
Kind regards,
John Grady MP
Scottish Labour Member of Parliament for Glasgow East”
