    At one point it was considered that this building should become the station for a re-opened Glasgow CrossRail line. I would still like to see this line opened to passenger trains, e.g. a direct route from Paisley to Edinburgh with a station at Glasgow Cross. However, I accept that there has been no real progress on this idea. Would we still be able to have a station without using the Mercat Building?
