Thank you for your email regarding secure on-street cycle parking.
Due to the popularity of the secure on-street cycle parking project, and the large number of residents requesting further expansion, Glasgow City Council have allocated funding from the Council’s capital programme for additional storage capacity. After an open tender process, Cyclehoop have been identified as the preferred supplier. Cyclehoop are responsible for the supply, install, management and maintenance of up to 500 new cycle shelters and these will be rolled out across the city over a 5 year period. Commencing in Spring 2025.
Glasgow City Council are in the process of determining the locations for new shelters by using a Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis approach. This considers factors such as Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), building height, population density, proximity to active travel infrastructure, and incidences of cycle theft. To assist in the implementation in the next phase, Glasgow City Council is further developing the process with great consideration of demand from residents.
All requests recorded by Cyclehoop as part of the existing scheme will be considered as part of this analysis. For decisions on locations to remain unbiased and equitable, individual requests will be considered equally.
Residents can record their interest in additional cycle storage by applying to the waiting lists for existing nearby shelters and/or submitting a location suggestion to Cyclehoop. This can be done via the links provided below.
To request a rental space or be added to a waiting list for an existing shelter: https://www.cyclehoop.rentals

I trust this information is of assistance.
Yours sincerely
