We have received details of a few different organisations looking for volunteers.
The first of these is from the Volunteer Tutors Organisation (VTO). The VTO is a volunteer-led charity which provides one-to-one tutor support to children and young people, mainly in Glasgow, who would otherwise not be able to afford a private tutor. They have seen the demand for tutors rise significantly since the pandemic, and currently are receiving many more referrals than they can fulfil. Volunteers will receive full training and don’t need an educational background, and more details can be found at https://vtoscotland.org/news.
Similarly, last week we shared details from MCR Pathways, looking for mentors to help young people across Glasgow build aspirations for their future. Mentors spend an hour each week listening to and encouraging a young person in their school, and you don’t need any qualifications as full training is provided.
Finally, The Scottish Pantry is looking for volunteers. In their Twitter post, they explain that you will be helping fight food waste while feeding people in need in your local community. Even better, you might get to work on some of your personal goals too; Get Out & About, meet New People and support the Environmental Impact.
