City Change Makers: Turning Ideas into Climate Action in Glasgow

Climate change is affecting us all, making our cities wetter and everyday items more expensive. The time to act is now, and we must do it together!

Do you have an idea to tackle climate change and improve your neighbourhood? We are looking for two local organisations in Calton, Govan, or Southside Central to join our City Change Makers programme.

Join Our City Change Makers Launch Event

Glasgow City Council’s Centre for Civic Innovation, in collaboration with the Council’s Sustainability team and C40 Cities through the Thriving Cities Initiative (TCI), is launching City Change Makers – Neighbourhood action, for people and planet. This initiative supports residents in responding to climate change through community-driven solutions.

They have funding to support organisations to prototype, test, and scale their ideas. Interested? Attend the online information session to learn how you can become a City Change Maker!

Delivering Impact Together

City Change Makers is a design accelerator programme guiding participants to turn their local climate action ideas into reality. Participants will develop skills in problem-solving, research, communication, collaboration, and community resilience.

Each organisation will partner with The Centre for Civic Innovation, participating in our Climate Design Challenge Accelerator. We will support 10 local people in each area to develop, test, and implement their ideas. Participants will be paid the Real Living Wage, and organisations will receive up to £25,000 to bring these ideas to life.

Be Part of the Change

We want to work with two organisations in Calton, Govan, or Southside Central to implement or scale up climate change initiatives. The programme will run over July and August, with planning time in late July to ensure maximum benefits for participants.

Sign up for our online information session at 3pm on 9 July 2024. Interested organisations can apply via a short online form – details will be shared during the session and through our communication channels thereafter. https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/b6229af2-ad39-4c13-bf68-b0e7fa82be8a@b986e70f-a01e-4e41-8a89-7a2652b45a52

Why Get Involved?

Glasgow’s Climate Plan aims to reach Net Zero Carbon by 2030. City Change Makers will collaborate with local people and organisations to enhance existing initiatives, test new approaches, and build local capacity. Our work, grounded in community input, aims to co-design a future Glasgow where communities can thrive.

Creating positive change requires ground-up solutions and the involvement of change agents who can influence others and drive best practices.

Join us and be part of the solution. Together, we can make a difference.

Sign up for our City Change Makers Launch Event and take the first step towards turning your climate action ideas into reality!
