The Glasgow Sport Training Academy is now recruiting candidates for our Training for Work Programme. The programme will begin on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 at Glasgow Club Crownpoint.
If you’re a young person aged 16-24 years old living in Glasgow, not in education, employment, or training, fear not, because this programme is tailor-made for YOU! It’s a great opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experience in the sport and leisure sector, setting you up for a promising career ahead.
During the 10-week programme, you’ll get to work as a leisure assistant in some of Glasgow’s most iconic sports venues, allowing you to see the industry up close and personal. Along the way, you’ll also achieve relevant qualifications and vocational training that align with employers’ needs.
Oh, did we mention the perks? Participants will receive the following:
- A weekly training allowance of £55 per week.
- A complimentary Glasgow Club gym membership for the duration of the programme.
- Successful completion of the programme will result in SQA Units – The SQA Certificate of Work Readiness.
- Opportunity to complete the STA Pool Lifeguard qualification.
- The chance to try some fun sporting activities including the Velodrome and Clip and Climb.

Further information: The programme comprises of four weeks of face-to-face teaching and theory-based learning, venue specific training and the chance to take part in some fun sporting activities. This predominantly runs 4 days a week approx. 10am till 3pm. Following these sessions, participants will complete a 6-week work placement at one of our leisure centres. Training delivery will predominantly be in Glasgow Club Crownpoint with other training elements taking place in various Glasgow Life venues across the city.
