Calton Community Council has received a planning application for external works comprising new lift shaft, replacement windows, rooflights, facade repairs, formation of new entrance and external yard area associated with use of premises as business/light industry. This application relates to the repairs and restoration of The Pipe Factory, a B listed building.
Works include repairs to the existing facade, as well as a new lift shaft to increase the accessibility of the space (which has been proposed in a location to have the most minimal impact on the historically significant elements of the building). All floors of the building will be converted into lettable office/workshop spaces which will be occupied by The Friends of the Pipe Factory, Strangefield, INCH Architecture+Design, Strangefield and other companies and organisations with a social agenda.
The opening hours for the building is proposed as 7am – 11pm every day.
