There is a new application for Calton this week (period 12th-18th August GCC List, received Thu 21st Aug).

25/01537/FUL – Groundworks for development at 206 High Street Car Park
Expiry date for representations – Tue 16th Sept
Basically this specific application is to enable groundworks such as clearing the derelict site and decontaminating in preparation for building works on a further phase of the Collegelands development next to the Moxy hotel, a former car park. This is to allow time for the associated application to go through but keep the project on track. Without this application enabling the works to proceed, it could threaten the overall development.
This relates to 2021 application details 21/00543/FUL / Collegelands Site Formerly Car Park 206 High Street Glasgow. A letter from the applicant, Gary Mappin of Iceni, explains the background to this application and what has happened with the associated one since more information was submitted in December 2024 and meetings with GCC this year (see attached).
Note this is separate from the application to nearby proposals for 24/02728/FUL the College Street Goods Yard Adjacent to No. 4 Parsonage Square, where representation from CCC was made on 26th December.
For this specific application – 25/01537/FUL – we propose no objection on the basis that it is preparatory work essential for a wider development to take place. It decontaminates land and clears a derelict site which is a good thing for the local environment both aesthetically and through bioremediation.
