Commuters park in Calton to avoid LEZ

A hatched box with "keep clear" has been added to the entrance to Glasgow Green at Monteith Place
New “KEEP CLEAR” road markings

At the last public meeting of Calton Community Council, we discussed how residents were concerned by cars parking in a dangerous manner around Calton, potentially to avoid the Low Emissions Zone if they parked in the city centre. We have requested that the City Council look into excessive commuter parking at the People’s Palace and around Stevenson Street, and are awaiting a resolution. However, we have had a positive result regarding parking at the dropped kerb at the entrance to Glasgow Green at Monteith Place. The council have added new “Keep Clear” hatched road markings, which we hope will discourage cars and allow users to access the park easier.
