Glasgow Briggait Clydeside Market Halls

Wasps are reaching the conclusion of the £4.5M Briggait Clydeside Market Halls refurbishment, and the are thrilled to share the transformation of this iconic Category A listed landmark.

Wasps has returned one of Glasgow’s architectural icons and the oldest surviving collection of market halls in Scotland to public use for the first time in over 50 years.

The project included the complete removal, meticulous refurbishment, and restoration of the roofs on the 1889, 1904, and Corner Block structures. For the first time, insulation was introduced to enhance energy efficiency, while the original single glazing was replaced with modern double-glazed units — a thoughtful blend of heritage preservation and contemporary sustainability.

This final newsletter celebrates the incredible journey from vision to reality. Inside, you’ll find a visual showcase of the transformation, with striking before-and-after photographs capturing the depth of change.

From restored architectural details to modern infrastructure upgrades, every enhancement reflects our commitment to preserving The Briggait’s historic charm while securing its future as a dynamic creative hub.

The space will open to the public in the spring. To find out more and see the great work they have carried out, download the newsletter.
