Planning News

There are no new planning applications in the Calton area this week, however the community council has objected to an application for a short term let at 57 Greendyke Street as follows:

Premises: Flat 3.02, 57 Greendyke Street, Glasgow

The Community Council objects to the above short term let licensing application.

The grounds for objection are that the premises is a flat with a shared access and shared common areas with the other flats in the building and is therefore unsuitable for the proposed use.

The proposed use of the premises as a short term let for home sharing as described in the application is likely to raise concerns about noise, nuisance and concerns about the safety of neighbours in the building.

The proposed use of the premises is also likely to have an unacceptable impact on the neighbouring flats in the close (and the greater building) because even with good management practices in place, the turnover of guests will have an adverse impact on noise and disturbance to neighbours, will lead to higher maintenance and repair obligations in respect of common areas. And the proposed intensification of use and movements are likely to adversely impact the amenity of neighbouring residents in the building.
