As raised at The Thistle Community Forum last week, please see below details of additional sharps bin to be installed at Morrisons. The bin that was sited on Elcho St has been removed to allow access for the construction work there in the old school building by Thenue. NRS will be closely monitoring the situation in order to best decide whether this should be moved to a new spot nearby, or would be better placed at Belgrove Park.
Following the success of the Accessible Public Sharps Bin pilot project in New Wynd Lane, Trongate, Glasgow and subsequent roll out of an additional 4 Sharps Bins in the City Centre (x2) and Calton Wards (x2), the Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) and GCC NRS have agreed that 2 additional bins will be installed at the start of April 2026 alongside a baseline assessment of the area and a deep clean in advance of installation. The community and stakeholders will be informed of the locations and have an opportunity to engage on this via Community Council Meetings.
