Network Rail’s repairs to the Saltmarket Railway Bridge recommenced on the 5th of January, moving onto stage three of the planned work. Below, you can see a schedule of work for Stage 3 of a total of 5:

28th Jan – 8th Feb | Sunday to Friday 18.00 – 00.30 | Single Lane Closure in place of outer southbound to allow erection of scaffold over the footpath, covering of bridge structure for grit blasting and painting preparation |
5th Jan – 8th Feb | Saturdays 22.00 – 07.00 | Ballast retention work and on track mechanical preparation and painting of girders |
4th Feb – 1st Apr | Monday to Friday 12.30 – 23.00 | Steelwork and strengthening works, which will include an element of rivet bursting on each shift |
1st Apr – 14th May | Sunday to Friday 07.00 – 18.00 | Painting bridge and then removal of scaffolding and traffic management |
