Local Place Plan

CCC is giving formal notice that it intends to produce a Local Place Plan for Calton.

Although we are relatively late in the process of influencing CDP2, producing an LPP still has considerable value. Once registered, it must be taken into account when the relevant development plan is prepared, and it may also be considered when individual planning applications are decided. It gives Calton an established, community-led planning position rather than leaving the area without one.

The draft plan aims to set out a vision of a connected, climate-resilient and culturally distinctive Calton. Our current programme is to prepare a consultation draft in September, publish it for at least 28 days during October, notify neighbouring community councils and elected representatives, consider the responses and aim
to submit it for registration in November.

CCC will notify GCC’s Development Plan Team of this intention as soon as possible. The draft and information on how to comment will be placed on the CCC website. The final document cannot be submitted until its maps, consultation record, statutory notices and supporting statements have been completed.

We are asking residents, traders and community organisations to participate so the final plan represents Calton’s shared priorities and can be used consistently in future planning work.
