Annual General Meeting

Last night (Thursday 10th October) was the CCC AGM. It was a lively evening which saw the current committee re-appointed into role. Local Community Police and representatives from the Health and Social Care Partnership were in attendance to discuss issues affecting the Calton. Proposal of Planning Application Notice – Bain St

A proposal of application notice has been received covering the site bounded by London Road/Stevenson Street/Bain Street for the erection of flatted residential development (55 units) and associated works. Reference 24/01272/PAN refers.

Change to parking permit costs in Calton

Glasgow City Council are proposing to implement a new parking permit pricing structure for our existing Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) and Restricted Parking Zones (RPZ).   This is based on the levels of a vehicle’s CO2 emissions and the structure has been taken in line with the current vehicles tax rates issued by DVLA. Further information on these proposals can be found within the relevant draft report documentation.

A copy of the Draft Order, relevant map, statement of reasons and detailed report for proposing to make the Order are available for inspection 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday inclusive at: Reception, Exchange House, 231 George Street, Glasgow, G1 1RX and online at www.glasgow.gov.uk/carbonpermits
Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order must submit this in writing to Christine Francis, Head of Roads Asset Management, Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability, Exchange House, 231 George Street, Glasgow, G1 1RX or email:
parkingproposals@glasgow.gov.uk and it must be received by 1st November 2024.

Calton Heritage and Learning Centre – their twice weekly drop in sessions have restarted. Fee free to drop in to say hi and enjoy some food and banter. Every Friday 2pm & 4pm and Wednesdays 1pm and 3pm from 27th September. These sessions are free to attend.

Following on after the Heat, Scran, Move on Friday afternoons there will be Yoga sessions from 4-5pm. No need to book. The first yoga session is scheduled to begin on 25th October.

Coming up

Our next public meeting is in December and will be held on Thursday 12th December at 7pm in Calton Heritage and Learning centre, 423 London Road. We will be UPSTAIRS in the committee room as downstairs there will be a function. From February 2025, we will hold MONTHLY public meetings (except July and December) venue and timetable to be confirmed.
