Thistle 1st Anniversary

This week saw the first anniversary of the Thistle SDCF in Calton. Unsurprisingly, there has been quite a lot of media coverage about this in the news. We have harvested all we could find and present it below for information.

The next Thistle Community Meeting is on Tuesday 20th January and a representative of CCC will be in attendance.

We received the following message from the Thistle:

“The Glasgow City Alcohol and Drug Partnership would like to mark the one-year anniversary of The Thistle by sharing some key data, staff stories and service user experiences with our partners.
Key data:

  • 7,827 injecting episodes took place within the service
  • 612 referrals to support services were made
  • 25 individuals have engaged with The Thistle’s dedicated service user forum
  • The support services most commonly referred to include: Housing & Accommodation, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services and Blood Virus Team

Service User Feedback:
We regularly engage with service users at The Thistle via a dedicated Service User Forum and they have kindly shared some of their experiences of the service with us:
“They are amazing staff. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be clothed, I wouldn’t be washed. I wouldn’t have people to speak to. I get a wee bit of peace here.”
“I used the service for the first time today. It was really good. The staff were really nice. I felt safe and clean as I wasn’t using outside in dirty lanes.”
“I want to thank all the staff who give up their time to work with us, you have no idea how many lives you are changing.”
We’d be really grateful if you could follow us on X (@GlasgowCityADP), Facebook (Glasgow City Alcohol and Drug Partnership) and LinkedIn (Glasgow City Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP)) today to join the conversation and mark the occasion with us.
