Hayley Stevenson, a Calton Resident and local student is currently completing her MSc in City Planning and is recruiting participants for her research dissertation which will explore on urban regeneration, place attachment, and community experiences within Calton.
As a resident of Calton herself, she is interested in how residents experience and sustain connections to place during processes of urban regeneration, with particular attention to how changes in the built environment, public spaces, and neighbourhood development shape local identity, belonging, and everyday experiences. The study aims to better understand how people living in and connected to Calton perceive change over time, and what aspects of the area are most meaningful in shaping a sense of place.
She is looking for local residents, community members, or relevant contacts who may be interested in taking part in this research. She is particularly looking to speak with:
- Residents currently living in Calton or with long-term connections to the area
- Community members with knowledge of how the neighbourhood has changed over time
- Individuals involved in local community development, regeneration, or place-based initiatives
Participation would involve taking part in an interview, where individuals can share their perspectives on Calton, regeneration, and places that feel meaningful to them. Participation would be entirely voluntary, and all responses would be treated confidentially and used solely for academic research purposes.
If you want to get involved, in the first instance please make contact via info@calton-community-council.scot and we will forward your details on to Hayley. We are also hoping that she will be attending our next public meeting in June.
